We are the only company manufacturing blow molding, injection molding and large-scale thermoforming products dedicated to the nursery industry.

Responsible for the operational and strategic functions of human resources including recruiting and employment, employee relations, benefits & salary administration, legal compliance, employee development and performance management.


Human Resource Leadership
  • Lead all functions of the human resources division.
  • Establish positive, collaborative working relationships with department heads across Nursery Supplies.
  • Implement process improvements as needed into all HR services.
  • Supervise and lead HR team in multiple states (5 HR Managers and 1 HR Assistant in various states- CA, PA, TX, FL and OH). 
  • Ensure that HR, benefits, and compensation practices are in compliance with all applicable state employment laws.
  • Maintain knowledge of current regulatory requirements and changes for various states. 
  • Conduct annual internal HR audit; resolve discrepancies.
Organizational Development & Training
  • Facilitate employee engagement into company programs and services.
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to staff (or other audiences) on various HR or company related topics.
  • Coordinate training seminars and employee personal and group development opportunities. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate various employee events. 
  • Provide support to the CEO and VP of Operations on various activities and special projects as needed.
  • Oversee the recruitment process and strategy for all five plant locations. 
  • Ensure consistency in the recruitment process for the various locations. 
  • Assist the HR Managers with ideas and strategies for hard to fill positions. 
  • Recruit staff office positions for corporate. 
  • Assist with the development of an employment brand and proactive recruitment strategies. 
401(k) Administration
  • Serve as point of contact with 401(k) administration consultant.
  • Ensure correct 401(k) contributions, employee education and administration.
  • Provide information to the CEO and CFO with reports needed for the Finance & Audit Committee as appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of 5500 and facilitate the audit process.
  • Develop and manage compensation budget for Nursery Supplies in consultation with the executive leadership.
  • Oversee preparation and submit draft of annual compensation budget.
  • Conduct periodic compensation analysis for requested positions.
  • Assist with the implementation of Nursery Supplies compensation strategy.
  • Oversee administration of employee benefits and wellness programs.
  • Oversee proper management of STD, LTD, FMLA, FSA, COBRA, and other complex benefit situations.
  • Lead annual open enrollment meetings for employees.
  • Conduct annual evaluation of benefit package prior to open enrollment.
  • Serve as the Liaison to all benefit vendors.
  • Ensure and coordinate data collection for ACA reporting.
  • Manage the ACA reporting process annually.
Employee Relations
  • Modify and maintain staff handbook.
  • Develop job descriptions for various positions.
  • Develop guidelines for performance evaluations. 
  • Counsel and advise employees in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Refer employees to EAP providers as needed.
  • Draft and disseminate all staff communications.
  • Handle complex employee relations matters. 
Payroll, Unemployment, & Worker's Compensation
  • Supervise the payroll process for various locations. 
  • Audit payroll to ensure submissions are timely, accurate, and in compliance with applicable state laws.
  • Ensure multi-state unemployment filings are correct.
  • Represent Nursery Supplies in unemployment hearings.
  • Coordinate with Plant Managers about annual OSHA Form 300 and other worker’s compensation claim issues.
  • Creates safety polices and procedures. 
  • Oversees and tracks safety and compliance for all locations. 
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in HR or related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR certification required.
  • 10+ years of hands-on HR management experience required with solid experience in recruitment, benefit and salary administration and performance evaluation experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience managing a small and high performing HR team.
  • Polished, professional, optimistic and self-starting personality and attitude.
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented.
  • Strong employee relations skills; Interact effectively with all staff to make appropriate recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local employment and ACA laws and requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems.
  • Experience as a power user with ADP Workforce Now.
  • Work in a fast-paced tactical HR environment.
  • Use standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Some filing may be required.
  • Lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
  • Advanced math skills needed to calculate compensation, bonuses, benefits analysis, percentages, etc. 
  • Learn new software applications as necessary
  • Lift up to 20 pounds. 
  • Travel up to 40% of the time to PA, OH, CA and TX.
