POSITION SUMMARY
 

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and measuring instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools, applying knowledge of shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures.

 

 POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machine.
  • Work from sketches, verbal and print information in order to produce projects according to specifications.

  • Select the appropriate tools and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.

  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as CNC Mills/Lathes, Manual Mills/Lathes, Drill Press, Jig Bore, Sanders, Grinders and other support equipment.

  • Set up, adjust and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.

  • Read and interpret blueprints to insure parts are being made according to specifications.

  • Listen to machine and tooling to ensure machine and tooling are running properly.

  • Operate hoist in order to load parts onto machining center, lathe or mill.

  • Takes job down efficiently (Tooling, cleaning fixtures, putting gauges back, etc.…)


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Actively participate in the 5S program. Assist in keeping the department and machinery clean and organized to maintain a highly productive work environment.

  • Work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures

 

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
.
  • Results oriented attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to communicate in Basic English.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet required deadlines.

  • Must be able to lift, pull or push 50 lbs. during setup.

  • Learn and work with Conversational Programming.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.

  • Ability to hold tight machining tolerances.

  • Knowledge and experience using micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauge and outside diameter gauge.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

  • Operation Monitoring – Watching gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

  • Possess a general knowledge of tooling speeds and feed rates.

Education and Experience

 

  • 3 – 7 years of traditional machining experience.

  • 2 – 5 years machining experience with some formal schooling.

  • Job Shop and CNC experience a plus.
